hi guys i have an addiction to 1911 pistols,
i have a buddy who wants to sell me an all original remington rand 1911 a1
it is all correct all original with two original magazines, can i get a ballpark value of what one should pay for a pistol such as this??? he wants 1,200
SN# 1983942

is that a fair price???

I'm not an expert on the Remington Rand's, but that price is a tic low, the trigger in the first pic doesn't look original, the "US Property" stamp and the serial number don't match, and the second pic is pretty obviously (and badly) digitally manipulated. Coupled with the fact they're from Armslist, I would want to have that thing in my hands for a very detailed inspection before I gave him any money.
 
Photos are crummy, makes it look like it's been blasted and refinished. Maybe it has been.
 
il get my mitts on it on friday, il tear into it, in the meantime il try to get the seller to give me better pictures
 
This is what an original RemRand should look like.

US Property markings and serial number looks like they were applied at different times.

Note how the "9" in the serial number is different than in "1911" stamping.

Personally, I do not believe this to be authentic without better photos and detailed examination.

It looks a lot nicer than any of the authentic U.S. Army M1911A1s I carried.

Which makes me wonder...
