I talked briefly to a Remington representative at the Nashville NRA meeting yesterday and was told that release of the two pistols will be sometime in the summer, July-ish time frame. They are moving the production to Alabama.

The R51s on display functioned well but they were not from the new production facilities.

The RM380 is a double action only pistol in 380 ACP similar in size to the Colt Mustang or Sig P238. Like the R51, the display units looked good and operated well.

Time will tell if Remington learned from their R51 fiasco.

Nope. No thank you.

Based on the initial roll-out of the R51, I'm going to wait a good long time before I purchase any new firearm from Remington

Cool. A while back there was also some info that supposedly leaked about an RP45 pistol - a polymer double-stack striker gun in .45ACP. It was leaked at the same time the info about the RM380 hit the net. I would have thought that would be announced now too but I guess its either delayed or cancelled.

Remington RM380 = Rohrbaugh 380 re-engineered with a slide release and conventional mag release.

(Rohrbaugh was bought out by Remington's parent company)

I guess some of the R51 platform guys have said in the past it was designed from the start to be scalable for .40 and .45- as a proud owner of an original Model 51 can't wait for a .45! Now if only Savage would rerelease their nifty little autos from the 1910s.....:)

I always wanted a R380 so I'll be getting the RM380.

It would have been nice if they left the design as is since it would have made a better practice gun for my R9, but I'm guessing the trigger is the same and the sights look the same.
