Hi Folks

A local shop has some good prices on Remington 700 ADL Youth model rifles. Can the stock on the 700 youth model be replaced with a standard (full size) stock or does the youth model use some kind of non-standard stock? Also, how difficult is it to switch out stocks? Would I need any special tools?

Thanks,

IrvJr

As long as it is the 700 action, I am assuming short, everyone who makes a Remington stock should just drop right in. As far as switching goes Remington sends their guns with instructions on how tight to screw the action to the stock in inch-pounds, so you might need an inch pound torque wrench.

My son has a 700 youth. You can swap out for a full size Remington stock for the same action length and barrel contour with no modifications. You just need a standard allen wrench set. You can buy take off stocks from the classifieds of numerous forums. If you don't need the youth stock you can sell it and recoup the cost of the replacement.
