My Rem M7 in 7mm-08 is rather finicky.
It shoots sub=moa with 140gr Nosler B.T.'s and Sierra 140's (both flat base and boat-tails and near MOA with 140gr Nosler Partitions.
It insists on IMR-4350 at 46.5gr. Higher charge weights are precluded as this is all that can be used and bullets seated over. Greater weights will result in bullets damaged in seating/compressing the load.......
H4350 will allow as much as 50.0g with "some" bullets, but accuracy is much worse (at least in my rifle)
The Remington CorLokts are decent. Outstanding game bullet. I get equal or better penetration on deer with these than the 4x more expensive Nosler Partitions. A friend took a 1200lb 6x6 elk with the Nosler Partitions, so this is a strong endorsement. There are better "pararie dog" bullets however. Accuracy runs to about 2" at 100yds. I bought a "quantity" of them on sale some time back, so I'm "set"..... for life !!!
The Hornady 140gr SST's are accurate, but will only expand if shot into I-beams, Concrete, or similar hard substrate at 7mm-08 velocities !!!! Lost several deer with them before "shooting them up in load testing".
Hornady (midway "blems" 139gr BTSP) shoot horible (over 3"), but I already knew that from shooting some in some PMC ammo I got with the rifle. But, they do perform well on deer at shorter ranges.....
I get higher velocities with RL-15, Varget, H380, as well as H4350, but no where near the accuracy.
(mine has the 20"bbl, BTW). I've seen velocities in 2,900fps range without excessive pressures, but again, the very narrow "sweet spot" for accuracy is 46.0-46.5gr of IMR4350. 45.0gr does much the same with the Remington 150gr CorLokt, and 150gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. (The only 150's I've tried. I've "standardized" on the 140gr weight as it does everything I wan't my 7-08 to do.
Did mention that these rifles have exceedly short throats. The Sierra's seated at a magazine permissible lenght of 2.795" are touching the lands.
Not a bad thing !!!
But a necessary consideration when selecting components...
