There is a thread in the Blackpowder Forum about securing a wiggly arbor on a Colt-style open top percussion revolver. I have the same problem on one of mine. One suggestion was to use a type of Loctite adhesive, but I don't think the adhesive will flow down to the arbor threads adequately unless the arbor is removed.

After the arbor is screwed into the frame, it is fixed with a 1/8" diameter staking pin which is visible in the hammer channel. But I don't know the best way to get that pin out so the arbor can be removed from the frame. The pin polished down flush with the frame in the hammer channel...nothing to grab onto.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your thoughts.

You have to drill those out. The pin should be softer than the arbor.

At the factory, the arbor is installed with a long tang and without the slot, then the barrel fitted and the slot cut. Then the arbor tang (rear) is cut flush and staked to keep it from turning.
