How is the best way to remove a choke tube out of a Winchester 1300?

They have the 'nurled' extension beyond the barrel w/ opposing pin holes 180 degrees from each other.

Found a decent 1300 w/ wood furniture @ a pawn marked $149.00.
(thinking they'll take $120.00 - 125.00)
Been well used, but looks to be in overall good condition.
Do want to ensure that the choke tube is not rust-welded to the barrel and can't get the choke to budge using just my fingers.

Have a wrench for the Remington style chokes.
Is there a dedicated wrench for the Winnie? Spanner type wrench I would assume?

Should I bring a small vise-grip and something to protect the finnish?
(asking permission of course)

Right-or-wrong.
The 1300 'feels' the best to me.
Please no flames from all you 870 affecianodos
:uhoh: :D

No flames, the 1300 is a darn good shotgun, even though not my first choice.

Good deal even for $150.

There's a dedicated wrench, but after ensuring that the 1300 is empty....

Wrap a few layers of masking tape around the knurled part.

Using vise grips set just tight enough to grip w/o slippage, loosen by tapping the handles with a piece of wood like a hammer handle. Go easy.

If that doesn't do it, soak in Kroil for a day, then stick the barrel in the freezer for 10 minutes. Repeat the above steps with the tape and visegrips...

HTH...

Thanks Dave,

Just left another pawn and they also had a 1300 w/ wood furniture in just about EXCELLENT condition.
Marked $150.00, will take $130.00 cash.

Gotta go to bank for CASH:D and explain to the wife it is too good a deal to pass on.

Dave McC,
Think you can write me a note/hall pass for the Mrs. :uhoh:

I could write a note, but considering how well my explanations go over with The Permanent Head of The Budget Committee, you may be better off without one.

Show her the thread and blame me....
