Congratulations, and thank you!
I had let my membership lapse. Money's tight as a student, and I frankly 1) didn't worry about further infringement under the prior administration, and 2) didn't think the NRA held appropriate positions for my tatses - i.e., not pushing for the repeal of the GCA, etc.
Then, I'm assuming as part of a recent membership drive, instead of the little mailing offering me a gaudy duffel bag, I got a phone call. It was a local NRA member, who had volunteered to try to get people signed up. He explained why the issue was important enough to him, as a member of my community, to put in his time and effort.
I figured, "hey my (meager) tax reund is on the way, and it won't buy a new gun", so I put it to use in the form of a 5-year NRA membership. I got my dad to join, too. So I get my issues "America's First Freedom", and his "American Rifleman" when he'd read them.
Join up, guys!
