Er, thought this was a joke? Heard something about it shortly after the captain being kidnapped, but it had a lot more detail including various different rental options...

Also, 10$ for 100rounds of 7.62x39? Anyways I can just order some ammo from them? :neener:

There are two links there. The one that seems to be the original lists $7.50/day for the gun, $10/100 rds of ammo.

The article makes it sound like there are ex Spetsnaz on board for the cruisers safety. I doubt they will have any moral issues with splashing pirates before they get anywhere near the ship. :)

Personally I think it's a great idea. 2 or 3 runs of that maybe these pirate idiots will think twice.

Piracy has historically been one of the highest crimes a person could commit. Not much sympathy for one that gets shot doing it.

From a gun related perspective I guess there really wouldn't be anything at all illegal about this if it's true, being in international waters and all.

I've often wondered if people who live aboard cruising vessels ever consider sawing a barrel off or making a machinegun out of a semi while they are out.

I know it's common for cruisers to buy low cost firearms since they often have to dump them overboard to go into ports that have restrictive gun laws.

Is this serious, or some internet hoax? I'm trying to check now, but wow. As much as I'd like to see the pirates get what they give, I'm not sure I could plunk down 5k+ to kill them.
 
Stupid idea for sure. The best way to get rid of the pirates is to put a bounty on their heads as various countries used to.
 
Glad it's fake, would never work.

I would not want to be on a boat full of drunken idiots armed with auto rifles and pumped-up with bloodlust. A guaranteed way to get shot in the head.
 
Glad this one is a fake, but don't be surprised if it happens. I know there are some folks out there with more money than sense who would love something like this. In truth, it wouldn't be something I'd do, but I don't know that I'd feel it was wrong. After all, if you're a pirate all you have to do to survive is not attack the boat. I just would be a little squeamish about the money angle, and I'm a hardline capitalist from way back.
