Howdy folks!
I've got an old Marlin Golden 39A Mountie. It's suffered a bit of water damage in a flood a number of years ago. The action looks to be alright (and is, incidentally, very smooth) but the outside has some places where the bluing has become rusted and pitted. Nothing very severe, though, so I'm hoping with a little cleaning up I can get this rifle looking nice again.
The main thing I wanted to know is what the best thing to do to get rid of the rust and restore the bluing would be. Any help with this is greatly appreciate. The rifle actually belongs to my great uncle, who lives in Mexico, so I am kinda fixing it up in the hopes that it will be mine someday.
