I picked up one of these .44 mag snubs at Academy during the Black Friday sale, last year. The $260 price tag was irresistable .... It's actually turned into a decent shootin' iron with .44 Specials (the magnums, not so much fun; I'll leave them to my Ruger Alaskan).

My question: This revolver has the "stub" frame (same type as Ruger's SP101/GP100/SRH style). The "ribbed" rubber grips don't suit me very well. Anyone know of a source for replacement grips for thismodel? Will grips for any Taurus revolver interchange?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I believe Pachmayr makes a compact grip that fits the Rossi's. you might get more answers over on Taurus Armed.

I'm just spit balling here, but I wonder if grips that fit the "Tracker" and the Taurus 617 would fit your Rossi? I'll take some pics of the grip peg on my 617 so you can compare.

Yeah I paid $350 for mine when they first came out and don't regret it one bit. Turned out to be a great revolver.

As you noted, .44 special is the way to go with these things. The magnums are actually painful in such a small package even with the great (IMO) rubber grips.

Wish I could help you out with some grip ideas but I just use the rubber ones that came with it. I love the R44102.

Thanks,folks!

CarbineWilliams (like that name, by the way), the Rossis in your sites have the "full" grip frame; the R44102 has the stub frame, similar to the one Dan-O posted pics of.

Dan-O, I plan to check the Rossi against your pics; I think they are extremely close, if not identical.

Please report back. Academy is opening up two stores on the ks side of kc this summer/fall. I'm giddy about it as I'm a big fan of Yildiz shoties and I won't have to drive 6+ hours round trip now to buy them.

I have a set of wood grips from a model877 .357 that will probably fit! I cut down 2 sets to fit mine, might sell if they will work.

Nathanael Greene, those are exactly what I was hoping to find! Many thanks from those of us who are search-challenged.
