I have done a search and may not be putting it in correct but can't find anything.

I have ordered new spring kits for my Ruger Vaquero and Ruger Blackhawk. I was wondering if there are some good instructions somewhere on replacing them.

Any info would be very very helpful.

Thanks.

The Ruger manuals give step by step instructions on how to disassemble and remove of the trigger and hammer springs. You can download manuals from Ruger's website.

I'm not sure about the Vaquero but be advised that Ruger "sometimes" uses medium strength threadlocker on the rear frame screws on the Blackhawk. Be sure you use a hollow ground screwdriver of the right size and keep lots of downward pressure when removing them so you don't "bugger" the heads. (Hmm, how do I know this? :fire: )

Thanks a bunch for the heads up on the screws. I did't even think about looking at the Ruger site. I remember awhile back I saw a website of someones that showed the whole process with tips and such but I can not find it again.

Thanks for the info.

Here is an article with links to others that may also help. This article tends to make it look more complicated than it is but the pics still help. Look at the continuation articles linked at the bottom also, especially the third article that shows the trigger spring installation.

If you run into issues, post again.

I change springs often. I use an old fork for the hammer springs. If you put the strut in a vice to hold it steady and upright, then install the spring and with the fork tines slipping over the strut you shove down and install the metal tab and pin it in place with a finish nail and intall the strut and cock. Remove the nail and all done. :)

I just replaced my Redhawk trigger spring and the kit came with instructions. They were Wolff springs.
