I've got a S&W 64-3 with the stock wooden grips, and I'm considering replacing them with synthetic ones, preferably rubber.

I've got two questions, however.

A: Which frame type is the 64-3?

and B: Which brand do you guys reccomend for the grips?

Thanks.

The 64 is a k-frame; grips for either the k or l frame will fit it. You do need to note whether it is a square or round butt (i.e., is the backstrap rounded down to the bottom of the butt, or does it stick out into an acute point?).

I prefer wooden grips, and in your shoes would first try adding a Tyler grip adapter to fill in the space between trigger guard and grip to improve the feel and control with stock grips. If you want rubber, the big makers are Hogue and Pachmayr, of which both have plenty of fans.
