At a gun show this past weekend, I found a Winchester Model 12 that I liked but the stock was cracked near the receiver in the pistol grip. The seller was honest about it and discussed the repair he had made. It was priced accordingly and I almost bought it. I know where the seller is so I could contact him and buy it still. I've never replaced a stock before and it started me wondering how difficult it might be. The question goes to you guys who have replaced stocks on Model 12s. I wondered too if the replacement cost might make it a poor investment. There are lots of model 12s out there with intact stocks, so why mess with this one? How difficult is it to replace the stock?
