Replacing the Recoil Spring in a Kimber Ultra

I just ordered a Wolff Recoil spring kit for my kimber ultra and i was wondering how to get the old springs off the guide rod? If anyone has done this before would you please let me know!!! Thanks Adam

Its tricky. The inner spring is under tension, you need to heat the rod where it unscrews to release the loc-tite, unscrew it and not have the hot pieces go flying. Assembly is a bit easier, but you'll need a fresh drop of loc-tite.

Kimber will sell you replacements on an exchange basis if you want to avoid the hassle.
