So i was feeling politicly active the other night, and i took it upon myself to write all my reps and express my thoughts on the AWB sunset, among other things. today i recived this responce from none other than the man himself!

Dear Mr. Baus:

Thank you for expressing your opposition to renewing the 1994 assault weapons ban.

In 1994 Congress enacted a ban on semi-automatic assault weapons. Every major police organization--local, state, and national--supported the assault weapons ban. They made clear that assault weapons are the guns of choice for drug dealers and the most violent criminals in America. All too often, criminals illegally obtain weapons and threaten public safety and law enforcement officials. These men and women, who put their lives on the line every day, fear that they are being outgunned by criminals who use these weapons.

It makes sense to update the ban to reflect emerging public safety threats. When Congress considers legislation reauthorizing the 1994 ban, please be assured I will keep your views in mind.

How farking stupid are these people???

All too often, criminals illegally obtain weapons and threaten public safety and law enforcement officials.

Alright, so criminals get "assault weapons" Illegally. Duh. so he wants to make it more illegal-er? huh??

I'd imagine something like this has already been posted, but i felt the need to show this anyways, a reminder of how stupid those in charge are never hurts. :banghead:

So these criminals who illegally obtain assault weapons are going to care about the AWB... why? Anyone can convert post-ban to illegal AWBs by buying threaded barrels, collapsing/folding stocks... without background checks.

Guns of choice for drug dealers? No, the AWB targetted unimportant cosmetic features.

Tell your idiot Rep that he needs to buy a clue. I hear they don't sell them in DC or MD, so he might have to go to VA to find one.

This guy gleefully embraces the premise that govt can do whatever it wants, and that he will take guidance from the police, and not the people on that.

Most who post (& spend 100s of hours pontificating among the "already convinced") don't - you did.

SHERROD BROWN/Member of Congress is either uniformed, a liar, or worse.

Tell him so - & that emphatically.

His job, possibly his life, depends upon it.

Labgrade - Thanks been trying since the gov't was kind enough to grant me my partial rights (18 yrs old).

So what can i do to further irk this moron? i know he wont be voting how i want him to, so what now? i somehow doubt its as easy as saying "you're fired", so what steps can i do to further annoy the good represenative? i send a weekly volley of snail mail (on the weeks i remember), what else can i do? i'd love to start the ball rolling to oust this jackass, but dont know how. hopefully i'll be able to get into local politics around here as well, i plan to run for township trustee this fall when it comes up

Got the exact same canned message from the two stooges down here in FL, Nelson and Graham, a few months ago. If it weren't for the heavy elderly and black democratic vote in the south Florida area, Florida would be predominently Republican. Time to get the Dems out of office.

Maybe when I'm older I'll be successful enough to run for congress. There are few level heads in congress at this point, so if you don't like the options at the ballot, make another one.

Thankfully, Sherrod Brown is NOT my US Rep (Stephen LaTourette is my Rep). But Brown is almost as much of a far-left leaning joke as Dennis Kook-cinich.
