Sorry but posted this in the wrong thread dang thick fingers!
I have a friend who is a Tatoo artist. He traded out a tatoo for a brand new Colt Commander. He isn't a 1911 guy, he likes Taurus autos, so his loss is my gain! He is a good friendand gave it to me for what I think is a great deal. I got it for $400.00. It is brand new, has the high luster blue job. Is perfect since it is brand new. I have a few questions since I have never owned a Colt Commander except my old one form the 70s. I have a few commander size Kimbers, but this is only my second Colt Commander. I believe it is a Series 80 but may be wrong.
It has, from left to right on the left side of the slide Commander Model, Model has a star to the right and left, in the center it says Colt in larger script, to the right of that is Automatic caliber .45 and to the right of that it has the Colt prancing horse.
On the right side of the slide it says Colt's Commander Model in all caps.
Serial number is 80BS22XXX
Has nice walnut stocks that are completely checkered.
Anyone know the vintage of this guy? Or how much it is worth? I was thinking it is probably worth about $650.00 or so.
