Here is another one of my weird questions. I have a reprint of a Sears catalog from 1902, and I am using it for some research I am doing for a short story. I am wondering if any of you have access to reprints of old sporting goods (gun) catalogs from around 1895. If so, could you answer some questions for me?
What I am trying to find is a ballpark price range for a few guns in that priod of time. The Sears catalog I have will be of limited use in this department when my story gets to that period, as they do not carry some of the guns I intend to put in the story by 1903.
So, here are the guns that I need contemporary prices for.
1895: (ballpark prices will do)
1)Winchester Model 1892 Rifle, with a round Barrel in .44-40
2)Remington Rolling Block Mid Range rifle in .45-90
3)S&W New Model No. 3 Frontier Single Action top break revolver in .44-40
4)S&W Single Action Third Model (top break) in .38 S&W (4" bbl if it matters)
In 1903: (again, ballpark will do)
1)A 98 Mauser Sporter in 7mm Mauser (was 8mm out yet?)
2)Lee Enfield Rifle, caliber .303 British (sporter if possible)
3)Krag-Jorgensen 1899 Carbine caliber .30-40 Krag
4)Colt New Service Revolver in .45 LC
5)Mauser Military (Broomhandle) in .30 Mauser
I know this is alot of stuff for one post, but I figured this would be the best format for asking. Thanks for the help once again.
