I have a custom 98 Mauser(1934 Oberndorf receiver) built in the late 50's. Its chambered for 22-250 and it has a Douglas medium weight target barrel. I'm thinking about restocking it since the current stock doesn't quite "feel" right (length & pull feels wrong)and I would like to change over to a more modern profile and use figured wood. BTW, the current stock is not a modified military M98 stock.
Once I find a nice piece of wood to use and have the shape cut what kind of expense might I expect to fit the action and barrel to the new stock?
A few years ago I had a Remington 700 BDL '06 that fit like a glove and gave excellent accuracy. Now if I could only have a stock like that for my Mauser!!
