Hello All. This is my first new thread post so forgive me if it isn't perfect.
It's hard to get really good pics of a restore but I think it hits the highlights. The history of the gun. Well that's interesting. A buddy of mine bought a farm house and in the hog shed in a pile of trash was this gun. Literally it was laying in trash bags, straw, and whanot. He brought the gun to me and with a grin asked me to "fix it up for him."

As you can see it was in fairly rough shape.

After I polished it I noticed that the pitting was not too heavy. In fact, it looked rather protected from the layer of rust it had. I spent a few more hours on it before I put it in my blue tanks and polished the aluminum receiver and coated it with Aluma Hyde II in matte black and recoated it with clear gloss. The stock just required stripping and then I refinished with tung oil finish. Not tung oil mind you, but the finish. I was hoping for a lighter finish and was not disappointed. A little work on the extractor and it worked like a charm. I did not put it on paper as we have been around zero degrees here for too long. Needless to say my friend was quite pleased and extremely surprised. The look on his face was satisfaction enough for me!

Nice job. The stock looks nice, metal work also.

I like to prowl the used gun racks and find old 22 rifles that need some TLC and bring them back to life. It's an interesting hobby and not all that expensive either.

I've been bluing for awhile and this one really surprised me when it wasn't pitted all to heck. It's very rewarding turning something back into a newer condition! I have found several good deals on guns that have been abused and pick them up every chance I get. When it isn't pitted, it's a lot less time spent on it.
Thank you for the compliment Old Shooter!

Very cool, I'm working on finishing up a old Springfield 60 22lr that we found in my girlfriends grandpas attic. Bummer the stock was broken in three pieces though.
