I´m in the process of bringing back to their original configuration a pair of English Rifles.

The first one is a 1942 Savage made Enfield No4, converted to MK II in 1951.

It went to FTR in 1951, and the barrel is SHINY NEW!!!!!!!!

The Second One is a 1947 Enfield No 5 Jungle Carbine, the barrel is good, and the action is really smooth!!!!!!!

The No 5 went to my gunsmith, he installed the Flash hider and finish the rifle in QPQ (I really love the QPQ finish, its almost indestructible!!!!!).

I got the wood furniture for the No 4, and the metal parts that were missing. I work the wood, taking all the crude out of it, and finishing with BLO.

As far as it goes, the Number 4 is looking nice (hope you think the same).

I have to order the wood furniture for the Jungle carbine, any suggestions regarding where to order it are welcome.

Sorry if I didn't make my self clear. I post some pictures of both rifles whit the bubba work on them, and the after restoring work on the No 4.

Looks like he cleaned the crud out of an old no.4, refinished the steel, and put it in proper wood (it looks like the old stock was sporterized). I've never handled a jungle carbine, and wouldn't know what was wrong to begin with ... but I have to say the no.4 looks nice, tadeus. :)

Edit: looks like in addition to sporterizing the stock on the no.4, the previous owner cut the sights down/ off on both rifles. He fixed that, too.

Never thought I would say this, but I believe that I liked the sportenized stock on the No.4 better than the Milspec. It looks to have had good lines, and honestly, I cannot stand the small grip area and odd angle of the Enfields. The sportenized stock looks to have fixed that. Personal comment. Otherwise, good job. I agree with your decision on principle.

Thanks on your comments regarding the Number 4. I bought it sporterized and restore it to its "original" configuration.

The Jungle Carbine has the Stock and the forend modified by the previous owner. In this one I will substitute all the wood furniture.

The sporterized forend on the Number 4 looks nice, but the sporterized stock its a very crude work.

Tadeus, good work on restoring an original Enfield to a more "as issued" condition. I'm sure it took a great deal of time and effort to source the parts, and then put it all together. I'm sure you must be proud of your accomplishment!

Thanks:

And yes it took a while to get the parts down to Mexico. The Number 4 has an almost new bore; I hope I can take it to the range soon and see how it groups.
