I just had a shotgun given to me. It is a revelation model 300. it is very used but appears to be in fair condition. the barrel has been sawed off to 18". it needs a new magazine spring.
Does anyone have any knowledge of these guns or anything that might be helpful. just curious about it.
Gonna go put a new spring in it and shoot it tomorrow. ill let ya know how it turns out. Thanks y'all

Western Auto sold it,Savage made it.The original models were the Savage 30,d,e,and f .

thanks for the quick replies. the last owner told me it needed a mag spring. i took it out and found what he called a spring was really 2 pieces of spring with a dowel of wood in the middle and each spring stapled to it. looked like a 2 year old did it. going to try and find another one tomorrow.
any info on shopping for one? length or maybe one from another gun. never had to buy one except for my pistols

You will find the best way to "go shopping" for an old gun is to learn your way around the internet. Numrich gun parts corp, noted in a earlier post, is a great source. I will bet money your local gun shop may have a spring, but they are not going to have the spring. And no, that spring arrangement is definitely not any factory stuff.

From the different diameters of the two spring halves, I'd guess that the original broke, so someone cobbled this together, maybe using part of the original. (I'm guessing the left side in the photo may be original).

How you break a mag spring is beyond me, but it's obviously possible.

Should be easy and cheap to fix.

If you poke around the Internet, you'll find out more, including disassembly tips.

I had a Revelation M310, was just a single action bar Mossberg. I bought a modern Mossberg 500 barrel for it, fit right on and even fed 3" stuff. Original C-Lect choke barrel was a 2 3/4" only.

If you can't find the parts under the "Revelation 300" model number, I'm betting the Savage/Stevens original shotgun parts will work fine on it.

i got a new spring for it and it seems to feed fine. in about an hour im gonna take it out and fire it. i had to put a front sight on it and i think it'll be ready to go.
When i took the spring in to the gunsmith at Gander Mtn. he laughed and said "redneck brainpower" lol

Mmmm, must be range day. Son-in-law wants to run to the range, so I'm going to test some 1 7/8 ounce 10 gauge number 6 lead shot loads I made up. FOR WHAT, you rightfully ask? LOL, this moron buddy of mine wants 'em to shoot doves. He's a little warped. I'd have loaded him some 2 ounce loads, but my scale only goes to about 1 7/8 ounce.

haha. We took the gun out to our little homemade range today and it functioned great. it is quite the pain to load but i think a good cleaning and some lube will take care of that.
oh and yes that a computer case:D

hahaha at the spring repair. were you shooting it single shot? i had a springfield 67h and it was basically the same gun. it was wierd to load the mag, compared to all others, it didnt have the shell stop.

no single shot. i replaced the spring with a new one and it feeds fine. it is kinda weird in the fact that it doesnt have a shell stop either. just take some getting used to.
im picking up my new Mossberg 500A tomorrow for $175. Im kind of new to shotgunning so this is a trip:what:
