if a bg just shot your someone you loved would you kill them with there back turned?

i probably would

how much trouble would you get into?

just a kid who likes guns

I get the idea that you're pretty young so your question probably makes sense to you at your age.

But in the real world what you are talking about is murder.

So, you'd get life in prison, maybe the needle if you live in a death penalty state.

Probably best to find something else to worry about :)

this will be locked in a heartbeat
as it should be
Perhaps it should be (and perhaps it will be). The question presented raises many moral and legal issues. It is not such a unique scenario that we might very well face it at some point in our lives - perhaps during youth, perhaps when more matured.

But in the meantime, let's use this as an opportunity to discuss these issues and address the OP's question (not "how to get away with it" or "under Texas law, you could . . ."). Keep it high road orand on track - please.

Edit to comply to Henry Bowman's post.

It does raise some serious moral issues though. I would like to think that I would take the high road in such a senario but the reality is that if someone killed someone in my family, there is a good chance I would try to make them pay for it.

how much trouble would you get into?

More than you'd ever want to deal with. BTW you just admitted that you would commit murder (intent to kill). If you EVER get into trouble and someone finds this post, it may be used against you so think about what you say online. The internet is forever

ctually, if you live an a Castle Doctrine state, wouldn't that be legal as long as they were in your home still and not otherwise prevented from harming you?

That would be more of a self defense issue; a home invader has killed a loved one and is still a threat.

That's not "revenge" as the OP is asking I don't think.

What are the chances that someone would come and shoot your LO, and then immediately cease to be a threat to anyone else in the room? Wouldn't you presume he's still a threat to you, even with his back turned? I guess a lot would depend on the circumstances of the case. The OP didn't give us a lot of detail.

ETA: I assumed he meant the "revenge" shooting was immediately following the murder of the LO. If it was a week later, that's murder. Give my regards to the headsman.

I hope this thread is not locked . The OP had a valad question . the question was

if a bg just shot your someone you loved would you kill them with there back turned?

i probably would

I answer that not likely because i want my loved one to survive and i wont thake the time to shoot someone in the back . Even if i see it , once the person is running away my focus is about the victims . If the guy/gal is still shooting then of course i would shoot them in the back/side /anywhere else .

If someone in cold blood kills loved ones, especially younger ones, or does something unthinkable like raping them I guarantee these thoughts cross your mind.

I think the only reason this is open is because we think ahead so much on these situation so as to be prepared. One thing you hear a lot here is you have to resolve to be able to shoot someone with the risk of killing them AHEAD of time. This may be along the same lines.

Personally, in the here and now I try to think "Revenge is mine says the Lord," in accordance with what I believe.

However, a lot could be said about a person's state of mind after an incident like that.

Legally speaking no I wouldn't, in the here and now I try and think no I wouldn't. But in the moment, maybe after he got off on a technicality I honestly can't say that I know.

You do sound young (I'm only 21) so please, please think hard about this ahead and talk to people older and wiser that you trust. Sometimes I get caught up in the action movie mindset of andrenaline rushes and what not, but hear an wiser person gravely tell you how it is about something like this and those seem like pretty immature thoughts.

Wow, that turned out longer than expected, sorry.

yes i did mean that at that moment you have a gun bg just shot like a wife or kid he turns and walks do you fire?

You are commingling two issues here. First, shooting someone in the back is sometimes justified in terms of self defense. That is, if you are in immediate danger of death or grave bodily injury from the perp, and he temporarily turns his back, that doesn't mean that you have to wait until he turns back around until you shoot.

However, in most states, you can only use deadly force if you are in immediate danger of death or grave bodily injury. If the perp was no longer a threat and you shot him with the intent to kill him out of revenge, then you have just committed murder. That would quite possibly be considered first degree murder. The penalty for that varies from state to state. Here in MA it would be result in life in prison with no possibility for parole.

No, I would not commit murder. And I suggest to you that it is very unwise to post such a statement on the internet. In the unlikely event that you get involved in a defensive shooting in the future, such a post could come back to haunt you.

Revenge is an emotional responce

From the punisher makes sense to me. That being said no. Shooting would be too quick. At this point I would plan on rage/berzerk attack and a temp. insanity plea for burning a tire around a persons neck!

ok really, until something like this happens who could really say? This falls under the you never know until it happens catagory.

"Revenge is not a suitable motivation for either Deities or Humans."

230RN said that. A very long time ago.

If he was on my property, he would be shot. Him killing someone even if i didn't love them poses a huge threat to my safety not to mention someone else's.
