Mines been a great little pistol. I love the 10+1 of 45ACP! They are much louder than a 4" or 5" bbl at the range. The latest PT145 3rd Gen product is the only one I would consider. Mine has over 1K rounds through it. I've purposely "limp wrist-ed" it and could get it to short cycle but most any autoloader can short cycle if not held correctly. Otherwise it has fired every time and hits the target. It's is comfortable to carry IWB too.

Just Google "PT145 review" and you should be off to the races! Think the first link will carry you to GunBlast.com review. Wouldn't hurt to use the THR search engine also.

I'm a little leery of Taurus quality, but decided to take a chance on the PT145 'cuz it's just got so much to like about it (wish it was an XD!).

Did a lot of research before buying mine and it seems to get a thumbs up 'bout everywhere I checked.

I assume you're talking new-if so, make sure you get the 3rd generation-back when I bought mine it was a 2nd generation model. According to Taurus Forum, 2nd generation Millenium Pro has Millenium Pro on one side, PT145 on the other-3rd Generation has Millinneum on one side, and Pro PT145 on the other.

Basicblur,
Thanks for the link. That's the type of feedback I was looking for. I'm new to this forum, but familiar with the basic format. I really appreciate knowing needed info. is so readily available.

MGBFred, you'll find a ton of opinions, both pro & con. Here's what I've discovered:
IMHO I'm *very* satisfied with my MilPro. As was said, be sure it's a 3rd Gen. I've always been a 1911 guy, and the PT145 SA/DA (as opposed to the usual DA/SA) function appealed to me. I carry mine every day and completely trust it. Never had a FTF, FTE, nada, with a bunch of different ammo types & bullet weights. Having said that, be sure to clean the thing thoroughly before you take it to the range. A lot of stoppages attributed to these sidearms are the result of the ton of grease loaded into them from the factory. Clean it inside and out, including the magazines, and you improve reliability.

Field stripping can be a bit of a challenge until you understand it. There are good tips & videos that help, on youtube and the taurusarmed site.

Mgbfred, I have a 3rd gen. PT-145; I have shoved over 1400 rounds through it as of last Saturday. I have had zero problems with it. It is comfortable and a very good shooter. The last three times I went to the range I purposely did not clean it. The 1st and 2nd trip I shot 150 and 200 rounds respectively. Then last Saturday I fired another 150 rounds through it. I did this to see if the Taurus would shoot dirty. It did with zero problems. Question answered! :D I'm not a salesman but have sold 2 people on the 3rd Gen PT-145. And yes, it is a carry piece.

My PT145

I too have one and find it worthy of and easy to carry concealed. I guess I have the 2nd generation version; it has "Millenium Pro" on the left side and "PT 145" on the right side.

In view of the catalogue of negative comments about Taurus in general, I CHECKED THIS ONE OUT AS FULLY AS I COULD HAVE, and found it as perfect as I could wish.

I sing the praises of the pt145 regularly on here. Hate to sound like a broken record but imagining how they stuff 11 rounds of 45 into that little package makes me think of Barbara Eden living inside that bottle on I Dream of Genie. Plus my pt145's worked very well.

That being said however, my friend has had a lot of trouble with his (& our copies are actually consecutively numbered because we bought them together). Finally last week he suffered a failure while shooting mine. But I still have had no failures with it after several hundred rounds.

This may not be acceptable to you (and I realize it's unconscionable to some), but my advice would be to buy it & to return it for repair in the event you have trouble.

I have a PT745 (single stack version) and have over 1,000 rounds through it of varying brands and bullet styles with zero FTF, FTE, etc.

I've carried it concealed daily IWB and OWB and openly on a number of occasions and have yet to have an ounce of trouble from the gun. Seems a great value to me.

I'm on my second. The first was a Gen 2 (DAO). Put about 3000 rounds through it without a hiccup. Now I have a Gen 3 (SA/DA) just starting the round count. I'm up to 350 with not one issue.
I love these little monsters.

I also have a custom Colt Commander XSE, a CZ 75b Compact, and a Kimber. My little PT gets more Boom-Boom than all of them.

if I may, for those of you that have the PT145, how does the recoil and muzzle flip compare to other 45ACPs that you have shot?

Thank you

I also have to give thumbs up for this pistol. Only problem I've ever had was a loose rear sight from the factory; torqued the screw down a little was good to go. I've shot several brands of hollow point with no problems either. My attraction to the PT145 was its small size and high capacity of .45 and of course the price.

basicblur-picked mine up last year after tons of researching and finally reading gunblast's review of the weapon. it did not dissapoint and is now my preferred carry at the present time.
i would love to get a hold of the pt 745 though....

I shoot mine one-handed or two-handed with no problem, just like my Sig P220 Compact. If you get the opportunity stand behind someone firing a PT-145 and observe the action of the firearm.

Good groups are not a problem which constantly surprises me considering the length of the barrel. I choose to use only 230gr loads in mine.

Not bad at all. I posted earlier tonight about today's range session. I have discovered limp-wristing actually is an issue with this pistol. There were malfunctions today with mine until all shooters held it with a rigid wrist. I believe the limp-wristing issue is overblown for the most part, but I witnessed it with my own eyes (& hands) today.
