If you want a 357 Magnum I would say go with a S&W model 27 or model 686. The 686 is nearly the same size of the Python. They will fit many of the same holsters. They will also handle the 38 Special. They will last a lifetime with proper care. The model 27 has been called the "Cadallac" of revovlers. It is also the original 357.

My very first gun I bought myself in 1974 was an S&W M28 with a 6 inch barrel. Still have it, and shoot it regularly. At the time, I couldn't afford the M27. Have never been disappointed with my choice!! Those S&W N-frame .357s are stronger than the proverbial garlic milkshake!!

I also have a M686 with 3-inch barrel. Holy tamoley, is that a nice piece to shoot, and, when I need 7 shots concealed, to carry.

So, my two cents is to go with a "new production" M27 or an M686.

Go with Rohm.

A vastly underrated German manufacturer whose Mercedes-like quality is overlooked in this mass produced world or ours.

Perhaps the stoutest frame of any production revolver.

Everyone knows the Germans make good stuff......:D

My buddy thinks the Russian Nagant is the most sophisticated revolver ever made. Of course, he pulls the trigger with his middle, much stronger finger since his trigger finger got cut off while polling cattle.
