After reading Nightcrawler's post and hearing of some interest in the shortening of his Redhawk's barrel, I contacted the place I was planning to have cut my gun down: Pinnacle High Performance in Kempton, PA (a drivable distance from me). There is a 10% discount if we get three of us together to send in a $25 deposit. So, a basic job will be $171 instead of the regular $189. Other options are available. Below is the quoted e-mail that I received from them.
This does not need to be on a Ruger Redhawk, but it does need to be for the same kind of work. So if you have a 629 or one of them long-barrel .38's, here's your chance to make it a little more manageable.
