Revolver Redundancy....

redundancy is a good thing, But unfortunatly you're not really there I mean a little sleek K frame and a burley N frame and they dont even have the same length barrels.:D

First, you need to move over here to PA.

Second, if you are not absolutely sure you want to sell one, don't.

Third, really, move out of NJ.

...I'm working on moving, trust me, but my family has lived in the same area going back 4 or 5 generations. It's hard to just take off to another state when your entire family is so dug in to a particular place. I like guns, but I won't abandon family for them...
Stay with your family and fight the good fight. To many folks leave family behind.

If you get the Model 27 and decide that you like it much more than the Model 65 then I see no reason not to consider selling the 65 if you don't think you'll shoot it.

Nothing wrong with having two or three .357 Magnums around - it is a very nice cartridge. Stainless does have good utility if you spend much time outdoors with your guns though.

I have nothing against redundancy. Most of mine duplicates or minor variations of the same gun. I collect and shoot 38/44's and these are all variations on the same gun either with or without adjustable sights (outdoorsman and heavy duty).

Yikes! Where are the boundaries between collect and hoard...interest, obsession, and OCD? Whatever, man. Some guys have a bass boat, some have rare guitars, etc., so spend it as you wish.

That is an older picture. I have more since then. I am trying to get every variation and I am not even close. At the same time I need to update my quality of collection so while I don't sell any, some get moved to surplus or shooter and the rest move into the primary collection.

So back to the original poster. No problem having multiple guns of the same type.

Keep them and use it as part of your retirement when you reach that age. Should be worth a bit more then.

No such thing as hoarding firearms.

Peter - that is one heck of a collection. I doubt I'll ever get that kind of redundancy, but it is very, very impressive. Good for you, sir.

...

My quandary is thus: Are these revolvers redundant/should I sell the M65?
...

Well, I'm probably the wrong person to ask, as I presently own 7 S&W J-frames, and I'm not averse to maybe getting another 1 or 2. I have other revolvers, too, of course.

I regret letting many revolvers slip away from me when I was younger, and wouldn't willingly sell or trade one of them anymore.

I'm not seeing redundancy having an N and a K. I'm seeing a nice revolver for carrying on your belt or fast moving shooting games, and a then I'm seeing a nice, heavy, beast of a revolver that can handle shooting all of the .357s you can stand. What's wrong with that?

Me? I have a 4" L-frame 586 and a 4" K-frame M-19 and don't consider it redundant at all. Also on the lookout for a nice 4" .38-Special K (M-15 please) and a 4" .357 N (preferably an M-28). The more the merrier!
