Revolver versus Semi-Auto 50 Round Challenge

Well Sam you said what I've been trying to for a couple threads now. Maybe your way will be understood better.
There are undeniable differences both +- in defensive handguns.
Semi auto may have a greater propensity for malfunction
Revolver has a capacity deficiency
Trying to falsely level the playing field is more a function of gov than that of shooters.;)

I agree that this test doesn't address much, but its possible that one may discover he shoots one platform better than the other in similar time frames.

And that presumes the shooter is skilled enough in both platforms to actually have similar time frames. In which case, the shooter would be well served with either one.

As for which platform can shoot loose rounds faster, EasyG asserted the revolver would win. I don't think so if the semi-auto shooter knows what he's doing. I've challenged a pro-gun radio talkshow host to see who can fire 10 loose rounds faster. He has an XDs, I have a Model 25-5. Then we will swap guns and do it again. I expect to beat him both times.

When you get a "click" instead of a "bang," you pull the trigger again.

That's the revolver failure drill.
Did the revolver fail or the ammo?

Some folks love revolver spring kits b/c they hate heavy DA trigger pull. And sometimes, it's overdone. A sho 'nuff revolver failure.

On the other hand, I once had 500 rds of ammo with the primers set a tad deep. Shooting that ammo was sorta like a r-roulette exercise -- in one gun, but ran fine in another (and I was thinking only polymer guns were finicky about ammo -- well whadya know???)

Then there were those revolvers -- one a Smith, t'other a Ruger -- tried to pull the trigger but it couldn't be persuaded. The factory fixed the Smith up really nice -- better'n new, 'cuz new is what it what was -- and I mean a nice old 1967 model 64 NIB. The Ruger took a trigger replacement and some tuning and turned out ok, too.

So the question I want to put to that whole revolver 'liability schpeel about keep yanking on the trigger is this: "When do you stop yanking, throw the gun, and run?"
