Revolver well suited to one hand shooting?

I can't believe that this thread has gone on for 25 post without someone at least mentioning the Chiappa Rhino.

It has great ergonomics for one handed shooting...good index, beavertail, and grip angle... and the low bore's more lateral push makes recovery between shots much easier

Many folks, including me, think the Colt 1851 Navy .36 percussion revolver has the best natural "feel" for shooting Duelist (one-handed) style. That long barrel seems to instinctively pull itself into the target. It is a lousy choice for defensive carry and competitive target competition however.

I agree that the Smith and Wesson K Frames are likely to be the most ergonomic revolvers ever produced. Bill Jordan thought so, and who am I to argue?

My missus and I carry J-Frames because they are more concealable.

You pays your money, you takes your chance.

I was just thinking my Pietta 1860 sure seems to be built for shooting that way. The grip, the thin long barrel, the light trigger, etc. In fact I shoot it best duelist style. No other gun I own is quite as natural to point that way.

For DA one handed shooting, a revolver between 16 and 30 oz. with a grip that fits your hand should work. I think the grip would be the most important factor regardless of the model or size of the revolver though.

For me, the pinnacle of handgun handling is the 1860, not the Navy. No flies on either though.

Not many have experience with one?
They're such an affront to my delicate sensibilities that I won't even handle one. Besides, normal DA's already transmit more recoil straight back into the palm than I want. And they don't make anything bigger than a .357 anyway. ;)

You state you want something more powerful than a 38. An L framed 586-686 with the barrel length of your choosing or my favorite a 3.5” Model 27. All S&W’s of course because of the enjoyment of shooting them.
I grew up being taught that if a handgun was meant to be shot with two hands they would have been made with two handles.

Other than if one arm/hand is disabled, the only time I would would shoot one handed is around, over or under an object or barrier, and or close up for speed.

I do not have large hands, so a 2" or so J frame S&W is very manageable and very fast for me. In a .38. In .357 a round butt K frame with a 3" barrel.
