Dear group,

I have a question for you, folks. I am wanting to buy my mother a revolver that she would be able to handle easily for defence at home.

I am looking for a relatively light, small-frame revolver in a medium caliber (.38, .40 SW, etc.) that has, if possible, an integral light. Does this exist? I have seen revolvers that have rails attached in order to accomodate the optics, but they seem a bit too large for what I would want. What's out there, guys, that fills this niche?

Thank you very much for your time and I welcome all suggestions and responses.

Thank you and may you have a blessed day! :)

God bless,

May I presume you are referring to white light source as opposed to laser type (target illumination vs POI red dot)? I have never seen a revolver with an integral light. 'Twould be an ungainly looking beast and would require power source (batteries) upkeep.

Good luck with your search.

I too know only of revolvers with Crimson Trace Lasergrips (a laser sight integrated into a grip panel, available already installed on the gun from the factory or separately), not illumination lights. Perhaps there is some kind of clamp mount that could fasten a flashlight to the underside of a barrel?

Check out the M&P R8 from Smith & Wesson. It looks to be pretty pricey, but it has a rail and I don't think it's terribly large. Of course, I've never seen one before so I could be wrong.

Light, small framed, and in .40 caliber just doesn't exist. If it did it wouldn't be easy to handle. Maybe you should first find out just what your mother can safely and easily handle.

Yes, this would be optimal, sir! Would anyone know of such a device?

Thank you all for your comments an suggestions.
