Hi everyone. I need to rework an existing load and work a new load up.
With the current component shortage I have all but exhausted my LRP supply and need to rework my existing load for the 270. My normal load was CCI 200's, mixed brass, 130GR Winchester SP bullets and 51.5g of H4350. I have a few thousand each of CCI 250's and Federal 215's. I was going to drop down to 49g and work back up and test with the chronograph. I've never used the 215's before but have used the 250's in other loads. Has anyone ever had issues with the Federals ? I'd like to only use one of them and not rework with two different primers. Which would you use ?
Now for the new load I'll be working up. This load will be for target practice and not hunting so I really don't need anything approaching 3000fps.
I have less than 200 of the SP bullets and want to work up a load for some cast. Some time ago I picked up a 277-135-RF Lee mold and cast some to test with. They have been powder coated and sized with an actual weight of 139gr. None of my manuals list H4350 for cast. I've referenced Hodgdon's app, Lyman's cast 4th edition and several older Lyman's and they all list mid range powders with cast, none of which I have. Has anyone succsessfully used 4350 for cast ? Or would it be best to locate something like 4198 ?
