I was wondering if anyone here on THR has a concealed carry permit from Rhode Island or massachusetts? I was going to apply for a non resident permit from both states being I can't even have my gun in MA. w/o a permit how are the MA. state police with issueing these? thanks for any info or insight you might have on this guys.

If you go to Packing.org, you'll find that information available for both states. I know that Massachusetts for non-residents is shall-issue so long as you write a one paragraph letter explaining why you need it (they make $100 a year on it, so they aren't denying things for BS reasons). RI is a different matter all together. I need to message Jim Archer and ask him what's going on.

I have both.

Your chances of getting a Mass. NR license are MUCH better than getting an RI NR license.

Oh - your appeal in RI is before the SAME PERSON who denied you. :what:

I'm a MA resident, so my CCW is from here.
Getting a MA Non resident permit is usually no too difficult, it just takes a long time and is expensive.

RI non resident permits are near impossible to get from what I hear.

To clarify:

There are two forms of issuance in RI.

The town permits, which are shall-issue by law, no-issue by practice (but that's changing, check CRALRI's forums forums for more details) and the may issue permits by the AG's office.

I know the RI permit is a pain is the rear I'am from RI born and raised so I know that permits there are like pulling teeth, but I was hopeing under the new AG there that things may have changed as I know they tend to with every new AG thats comes in. I moved out of there 4 years ago to FL and was just wondering if it got any easier i guess not :(
