Hello all, my LGS has break open 20 ga RIAs on sale for $99 dollars. I have a Rossi 410 that I love which I used for pest control and my "noise in the chicken coop" gun. I really enjoyed the simple, light utility. My issue is I live in an apartment now so my needs are more recreation and less utility/pest control. How versatile would a 20 inch single shot 20 ga be for sporting? Would this make a reasonable kit/survival gun? Worth noting I do have a 28 inch 12 ga for more serious devoted hunting work. This would be more of a handy lightweight alternative.

Except for several .410's and one 12 ga. taken on trade all I've owned in my almost 50 years of shot gunning is 20ga. They have done everything I've needed without a need for more. I do not hunt waterfowl though. Other than that I don't think you'd be disappointed with a 20 ga. shotgun.

I use a 20 gauge most of the time for everything but duck and geese. I use a 20 gauge for turkey too.

i believe the size/weight with that 20" barrel.would make it a good poor boy kit gun. Your ammo selection would determine how capable for whatever task.
I have something similar, might be the same manufacturer actually, and i love the stupid little thing.
I also have a 9mm insert that i shoot out of it quite a bit.
Im probably going to snub thr barrel down to 20" to make it a little more portable.

I have one it's in the rotation of late night critter getters. It's pretty light and handy I believe it's a cylinder bore but definitely not threaded for chokes.
Does well with slugs and 6 or 7 shot at close range but I wouldn't push it too far.
There is a substantial difference in point of impact between standard shells and 3 inch magnums and the gun is light enough that magnums put it in the no fun category for me so I just use whatever is cheapest and keep a box of slugs on hand.
One other thing is the screw that holds the trigger guard on will make an occasional effort to back out and I can't prove it but I'm fairly certain that it tensions the hammer spring somehow because I will start getting light strikes if I don't check it.
It's very much built to it's price point but it's fine for what it is.
