Hi, newbe here. I was reading a thread on this site about a Richardson 12 ga slam gun that someone had seen for sale somewhere at $3500.00. I was wondering if anyone knew what these guns are actually selling for?

Hey! Welcome to THR.

I think that you'll find that without pics, you're going to get a lot of answers, but none of them very helpful. Even though a gun being NIB and unfired is important, a lot of a gun's worth is dependent on it's actual physical condition. Any scars, dings, scratches, or the like can sometimes seriously affect it's worth.

What I would suggest, is taking as many detailed pics of the piece as you can, making sure to include any odd markings, serials, etc and post them in this thread. I would also suggest PM'ing a Mod using the little exclamation point inside of the red triangle at the bottom left hand side of your original post, and ask them to move this to the Firearms Research section of the site. You're more likely to get a quick, focused response over there than here in GGD.

Neat piece of history, but there doesn't seem to be a great market for it. Unless it's an actual guerrilla gun that was brought back, and you have some provenance on it, they don't seem to be worth a whole bunch. Of course like anything else, if you find the right collector maybe you can get a better price.

I wouldn't sell it. As curiosa goes, it's a collectible item. The market is down at present. Sure you can't SELL it for four figures but could you BUY an NIB one for $600? I doubt it.

Insure it for a grand, oil it yearly and let the market catch up.
