I had seen a really innovative backpack a few years ago and now cant find it. I was wondering if anyone could help.

The backpack had a shallow pocket or holster on the lower right (or left) side of the pack where you put the butt of your rifle and an attachment point on the front of the right shoulder strap where you attached the front of the stock. These points were independent of any sling you were using.

When the rifle was attached to the backpack it ran up your right side with the butt near your right butt cheek, the optic under your arm, the barrel section in front of your right shoulder and the muzzle ending up right in front of your face (right side). The rifle was secure and at the ready (just detach the attachment point on the front of the right shoulder strap with your left hand and bring it up out of the holster to your shoulder), and you had the ability to use your hands to scramble over rocks, use ski poles, do other stuff ... without having to worry whether your rifle was going to get in the way.

Has anyone seen this type of thing?

Thanks

Kifaru has a product like that as an option on their packs...

Cabelas sells some like that as well. There are also various types of rifle holster for use with a BP, as well as backpack scabbards. A lot more than there was 10 years ago!

Kifaru gunbearer it is.

Thank you all for your replys.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks

I can't personally speak for the gunbearer, but Kifaru needs no further kind words from me. Their stuff is all excellent.

When I was in Okinawa, there was an Army SF Operator there who thought highly of the gunbearer. I think his next stop was Afghanistan, and a review was posted on lightfighter.net
