Rifle Bag for AR-15

Quick question:
What bags do you guys use to carry your AR's in? I'm looking for a decent quality (assault) rifle bag for my M4. I'm looking to spend 50-100$. Any advice?

How long should it be? I'm thinking 36-40 inches for a standard 16" M4, Right?
Any issues with fitting a scope or sight in the bag too? I was looking at Galati for about 65$, can anyone comment on quality?

I bought one from Uncle Mike's on the cheap through Optics Planet and its a nice case though I have to collapse the stock to fit it. It also has only 3 magazine pouches. I think the best of the soft cases I've seen is by Midway, it has 6 pouches and lays flat to become a shooting mat. If I was to do it over, I'd get that case.

If I was mounting optics I'd get a hard case.

Consider a guitar "gig" bag. Soft, padded, and doesn't scream GUN!
I have a gig bag made by Coffin Case that has a red diamond tufted satin interior and "coffin" shape. It gets a few looks at the range.
I wanted a violin case, but they are too small. Auto Ordinance makes one for the Tommy Gun but I didn't like the interior (or price)

I got a Wolf from cheaper than dirt for about $15. Mag pouches on the side, carry handles, and a shoulder strap. It is long enough to hold 16in middie with an A2 length Ace ARFX stock. Had it about a year and it is holding up well.

Thankfully it doesn't actually have blackwater or their logo anywhere on the actual bag (at least the discreet ones didn't). The materials and construction on the discreet bag were excellent - dense foam padding, dust shielded zippers, etc. For $30 I'd give one of those a shot.

I bought a generic sniper drag bag. It works well but is big. It can hold 2 rifles and a ton of other stuff. Midway has the same bag that I have with their name on it. It goes on sale for $50 from time to time.

i have an eagle case that is quite nice taht came with the noveske/magpul but mostly i use super-cheap cases

i'm not one to recommend cheaper than dirt, but i saw some guy in the gunshop last week that had a really cool case he said he got from ctd, which had rectangular padding and didn't look like a gun case

Try out a BOYT rifle bag. Very high quality construction, and it comes with mag pouches. Can be had at http://www.opticsplanet.com. It cost about $100. It's overkill for me but I'm fairly sure it'll be the only bag I'll ever buyl

I bought Midway USA's brand whoever makes it. It was on sale for 14.99 and I have no complaints.

I have a 36" 5.11 case from LApolicegear.com.

It fits my 16" AR with the stock in any position.

It came with a free double mag pouch, and everything is high quality from the zippers to the fabric.

I've got one of the Winchester branded assault rifle cases from the Sportsman's Guide. Comes in three lengths, has magpouches, a decent zipper, has at least 1" foam padding, and is less than $20.

Got a discreet case from castle rock tactical that I like. They come in multiple "non-tacitcal" colors and are compact. Seems well made, includes interior mag and storage pockets.

My discreet case is a bag for 3 tennis rackets. It works great for my M4 and CZ 75 SP-01.
That way the neighbors and other curious folks think I'm just going somewhere for "tennis".

I have a 5.11 case that is great. Its a soft case but has tons of padding and could store plenty of stuff. It cost me close to 90 dollars but was well worth it. I bought it off ebay and got 2 free double mag pouches with it.the bag is molle. Compatible if that's something you interested in and comes. In a few diffrent colors.

Mr. Scott,
As a "civilian" shooter I see no need to wear BDUs. Wearing today's equivalent of combat boots is not as obvious as it used to be. I also wear khakis or even tan - non-uniform looking "tactical" pants. MilitaryMorons has some really nice selections that have been well reviewed. They don't jump out and grab people's attention.
Now if you are law enforcement or military then fine. If not, BDUs are not essential to improving your 3 gun competition, IPSC, IDPA, or Carbine classes or for that matter sniper competitions.
Just my 200 cents worth (inflation and the devaluation of the U.S. dollar)

The feeling I'm getting is you can't go wrong with any case. Has anyone purchased a case that is garbage and I should avoid? What's the difference between a $20 Midway case and a 100$ expensive case if everyone like all the cases. They all come with the same thing. I'm a little confused here.
