Hi guys,

Little bit of story behind this one, so bear with me.
A co-worker of mine was friends with an individual who recently passed away, and was sharing a few stories about his deceased friend with us. In addition to serving in Vietnam, his friend also helped in 1981 to bust a group of "mercenaries" (might be giving them too much credit) who were planning to take over the island of Dominica (here's a little background over at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Red_Dog)
Anyhow, the following picture shows some of the stuff confiscated from the "mercenaries", including rifles that I or anyone else I know cannot identify, namely the assault-type weapons with the blond furniture two leaning against the table and a few more laying on it. I've gone through every book I have and googled myself half to death, but I'm stumped. The pic isn't great, but its all we've got. The receivers appear to maybe be forged or cast, and there might be a charging handle atop the gas tube, but maybe i'm seeing things. Any ideas?

Here's a bigger version of the above photo and another better one: http://www.manana.com/dominica.htm

Wow, that's an interesting one. Almost looks like a Leader or Australian Automatic Arms rifle, but not quite. Sorta like a Stoner too, but also not quite.

Edited to add:

I've curious what the thing on the top of the handguard is. Gotta be a top-mounted charging handle, since there isn't on on either side of the receiver. It's not an Armalite - the shape rules out the AR18, the gas block rules out any AR15 variant, and the caliber rules out the AR16 (the magwell isn't long enough for .308).

Oh wow, thanks Dave!

I've learned something new today--I've never heard of a Bushmaster Assault rifle, but I will shortly edumacate myself.

Thanks again,

Jeffrey
