Got a new monthly rifle match approved by the board tonight for Tremont Sportsmans Club, in Tremont IL, and it's open to non-members.
Our club has never had an organized rifle match, which I've always felt is a shame since we have 50 yard to 300 yard berms, and 15 shooting positions..
This is a "for fun" match which will be run once per month to get a rifle program kicked off. I'm hoping to evolve this to CMP, National Match, and F-Class in the coming years.
Details below:
Tremont Sportsman’s Club Monthly Rifle Match
The rifle range is reserved for a rifle match on Sunday, July 7th starting at 1 PM. Shooters may sight in from noon until the MANDATORY safety briefing at 1 PM. The event is open to non-members. Range fee is $5 per person. The match will take place each month on the first Sunday of the month through the end of the year.
The match will consist of 5 stages ranging from 50 to 200 yards and will involve each of the five shooting positions; standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, and benchrest. All non-muzzleloading rifles in good condition will be allowed. Optics, slings, and bipods are allowed. You are NOT allowed to change the configuration of your rifle, or switch rifles once the match starts.
Winners will be announced in the following categories:
• Overall Match Winner (highest overall score)
• Rimfire Match Winner (highest score, all rimfires)
• Iron Sight Match Winner (highest score, metallic sights)
• Relic Winner (highest score, service rifles over 50 years old with original sights/optics)**
• Women’s Winner (Highest score of all female competitors)
• Junior Winner (Highest score of all under 18 participants)
Relic = Service rifle issued by any military over 50 years old (C&R eligible). Modern service rifles are not classified separately (yet), but you can take a shot at overall or iron sights with them!
Junior shooters will be awarded first through third place ribbons and may qualify for NRA Rifle Marksmanship awards based on their score!
The rifle match will be run by Trent Lawrence, an NRA Certified Rifle Instructor and Range Safety Officer. He may be contacted at (309) 642-5439 if you have questions.
Official match rules will be posted in the rifle range house 2 weeks before the event.
RAIN DATE: Third Sunday of the month. We will shoot in wet conditions. Thunderstorms will be the deciding factor in calling a rain date.
