I recently purchased an FN49, the metal frame that holds the trigger could really use a refinishing. There are a couple rust spots popping through the bluing and in general its getting rough. What I would like is for a good resto shop to completly strip the trigger mechanism down, clean everything, and re blue the frame to stop the spread of the rust. Also testing and replacing any of the springs that need it would be nice. This shouldn't reduce the visual appeal of a well worn surplus rifle much since most of it is covered by the stock.

Since someone else already did a piss poor job of trying to refinish the stock I plan on stripping their crap and restoring it back to the original finish, keeping all the character dings, and adding back the white numbers on the butt that are supposed to be their. My gut is telling me their is a really pretty FN49 under this mud varnish and with a little TLC it could look like it did when it was sitting on the rack in Argentina.

What I'm looking for is a good shop that can do the work on the trigger mechanism. I'm not so much concerned about price, but they need to do it right. Getting another one if they screw it up will be very hard and the numbers won't match. Any recomendations?

Don't let the modest web site fool you.

They did a fantastic job rebarreling and refinishing my 1903 Springfield Mark I.

No other military gun restorer would touch the job, because getting a barrel off a Mark I is nothing at all like getting one off an A3. Hickman did a perfect job. Those folks really know what they are doing.

You owe it to yourself to give them a call.
