There you have it a world of ideas. You get what you pay for when it comes to optics. Leupold is a good scope ! But others have caught up to them with modern thechnoligy. As far as warranty ? That 3200 and 4200 Elite has a life time warranty no matter who, what , when , or where. No purchase date or reciept required. The only reason I mentioned it was the Rain guard. All the other scopes are good ones also but do not use the Rain guard. The leneses will not fog in the rain With the Elites. Even the best Luepold will. I'm not talking about the inside of the scope, but the outside of the glass. Get a high dollar scope too wet and it gets hard to see thru it. Not with the Elites.
Again They are B&L scopes. If you plan on any long distance shooting with the .308 (and you will) a higher power scope will be needed. The Elites do go there. For a lot less money then The Luepolds and others.
I am not putting down the Luepolds !!!!!! They make very good scopes.
Some of the ideas you were given are way out of the range you had asked for. I am not sure why. I have some high dollar stuff too but did not sujest those because that is not what you asked for. I guess you could check out the Victory Dia range at $3600.00 plus if you are just curious.
