Rifle - Vertical Stringing

I have a Taurus mod 63 .22lr that I recently won in a Shriner's raffle. Took it to the range saturday to sight in and plink. The only .22lr ammo I had was some Winchester RN .22lr (x22lr). At 25 yards, I was getting a consistent group width of about 1/2", but vertical group width of about 2-1/2". A guy at the range was shooting some Winchester power point ammo (x22lrpp) and gave me 6 rounds to try. Two three shot groups in same hole. I always thought vertical stringing was the shooter and not the ammo. Apparently not the case (at least in this instance) although I will admit my testing was limited.

Ammo is everything......most 22's will shoot accurate anyway, given the right ammo, and it seems like your 63 might like that slow 40gr hollowpoint of the Winchester Power Point.

The X22LRPP is excellent ammo, when I shot rimfire silhouette a lot of the guys would practice with the power point ammo. I hunt with it...excellent job it does!

It is most likely inconsistent breathing when taking the shot.

At 25 yard probably not the ammo.

Winston Smith said it in Post #3. Air in lungs is varying. Or you need to open/close your stance and use NPA.
