I'm looking a new deer gun for next year. Here in Iowa we can only use rifles in the January antler-less season and are limited to shotguns and muzzle loaders for the other seasons. I like muzzleloaders, but the only one that I have right now is an iron sighted side lock.
I want something for longer shots that I can scope and expect to be somewhat accurate.I used to have a modern inline muzzleloader and I know that they will do that just fine. but the ultra slug hunter has piped my interest in slug guns (I already have a single shot NEF that I could have fitted with this barrel).
What kind of practical range do you guys see with rifled barrel slug guns? is 150 yards doable? How do they compare to the range of a sabot shooting muzzleloader?
