Alot of great responses!!

These are my favorites and I've thought about each one of these myself at one time or another.

Some more than others (Non-Class III STG-44 at a reasonable price/.280 Mid Size Battle Rifle with plentiful ammo)

Antihero : A 460 and 500s&w lever action would be nice. As would something like a Hi Point in 357, and 44 magnum.

gbran : There used to be a combo by Crossfire LLC, now defunct. It was a lightweight pump combo 12ga over a .223. It had a AR type mag and action for the rifle. It was short and light. I'd like to see something like this made again.

HorseSoldier : And a rifle and carbine chambered to shoot .280 British.

7six2 : A U.S. legal Sturmgewehr 44.

Harry Paget Flashman : I want to see a KelTec Sub2000 in 7.62X25 Tokarev.

Spiggy : bolt action 5.7x28mm carbine

-------------------------------------------------------------------

It also seems like people want an M1 Carbine type and sized firearm in a more powerful chambering just like I do. People aren't saying that they want it in the same caliber (.44 Mag or .44 Automag), but it would serve the same purpose (powerful semi-auto short range defensive or hunting carbine).

Maybe some arms company rep will stumble across this thread and he'll convince his company to make an M1 Carbine in a more powerful caliber and manufacture several different sized mags for it for varying uses. From what I understand some company used to convert M1 Carbines to other calibers, but they seem like they're extremely rare. That would be awesome if some company made some and stranger things have happened. Maybe Kahr Arms or Marlin will pick it up, I know that Ruger wouldn't even though their Deerfield Carbine would make a perfect platform if you could get larger mags for it and a different stock.

I know I'm dreaming, but it's worth a shot. :D

22/22mag : I Want a .44mag semi-auto rifle 10-20 rd mags rifle the size of the Mini-30 or a pump 44mag like my Taurus Thunderbolt 14+1 45colt ,would buy a 44mag pump but Taurus won't be making any other caliber.

BigdaddyG : I want a M1 carbine in 10mm Magnum that was made for the Auto-mag. Would be easy for Auto-Ordinance to build em. mags could be moded or new ones that held 30 would be nice. Could do it in 9mm Win. Mag. too. A 10 Mag. necked down to .30 would pep up the 'ol M1 too.

Blade37db : A semi-auto .357 magnum carbine or a M-1 Carbine chambered for a more powerful round (5.56, 6.8spc).

an m1 carbine in 357 sig, or 10mm would be nice.
A bolt action or pump wouldn't be too bad either.

and a new Marlin Camp .45

A new mini-enfield in .223 and 7.62x39

Single Shot bolt action in 38 special, scaled to fit the 38 spec, with good target style receiver sights and good front sight. This would be a great training rifle along with that it would make a terrific small game gun out to a 100 yds.
the same thing but in .357, and also in .44, and one in .460 (that can shoot .45 colt and .454 too).

A friend told me this today so I'll say it, an AR in 300RemUltraMag. I think he's one of those "I got me more gun than you" shooters.

all-steel Bushmaster that says "AR-15"

That's the spirit! Less aluminum, more steel!

I'd love to see the look on the Execs at Colts faces when Bushy comes out and puts "AR15" on a rifle!!!
It'd be another Colt sues <your company name here> type lawsuit????

There seems to be a common thread here....more carbines in pistol caliber cartridges. I've got a few I'd like:

Marlin 1894 in .45 ACP, 10mm, and .480 Ruger
A new Ruger "Deerslayer" with high cap mags in 10mm and .44 Mag
Bolt action carbines in .45 ACP, .41 Mag, .44 Mag, .475, .500 S&W
Side x side double rifles in .45 Colt, .480 Ruger, and .45-70

A Ruger Patrol Carbine, Marlin Camp Carbine or Beretta CX4 that can take Glock magazines and is available in all calibers Glocks ar available in. Of course I won't be holding my breath waiting for it to happen.

Interstin that people seem to want pistol caliber carbines, but every time a company makes them, no one buys.

As far as a more powerful carbine, there have been a few conversions - everything from 5.7 Spitfire to 45 win mag

I'd like to see a CZ 527 carbine version in .308 Win, maybe with a laminated stock.

Absent only the detachable magazines, that would be the CZ-550. The 527 is by design a mini-Mauser, suitable only for 223 length rounds.

9mm ARs seem pretty popular from what I've seen, and I personally own a Colt 6450. My main complaint with the pistol caliber carbines that have been released is that they are either ugly as sin or fed from magazines of pistols I don't own. It's great that companies like Ruger and Beretta have made carbines that use the same magazines as their pistols, but by not accommodating the magazines of other manufacturers they've limited themselves in the market.

"Pump rifle in 30-30"

Those have been made. The Savage 170 comes to mind (affordable), as does the Remington Model 14 (expensive and rare as most were 35 Remington)

I'd like Kel Tec to put out a .45ACP SUB2000. Since they do models that take various magazines they should have models that fit the following magazines:

XD45
1911
XD45
SIG P220
XD45
Ruger P90, P97, P345
XD45

Oh, and it should take the XD45 mag. :neener:

HMMMM... What's the largest diameter bullet that a .223 can be "necked-up" to? Maybe a 9mm/.223? (no cases handy right now) Lots of good bullets to choose from. I'm thinking 147gr at 1800-2000 fps. It would work in a AR platform as well as a lever action carbine (or would that require a rimmed cartridge?).

i would also like to see the m1 carbine reworked. there is no handier rifle that ever came to be. now if it was just available in some different calibers we would be set.

How come every company that makes pistol caliber carbines doesn't make one that uses 1911 mags? Instead of trying to force people to buy your magazined, make a carbine for the greatest number of magazines that exists.
/rant off/

Anyway, I want a 7.62x25 carbine, as well. Harry, why don't you figure out how to convert a T53 to 7.62Tok and you'll be famous. Put me down for one.

How would you chamber a Lollie Pop? Duh, time to look at the spec's of the .223, it's not capable of anything more than it's designed to do now. It was designed to mame, not kill.

Sure, Browning makes the BLR...

But I'd love MARLIN to build a SS stacked detachable magazine lever gun. Keep the under barrel tube for extra flat nose or LeverEvolution rounds, but allow hard pointy bullets in the magazine. (plus the tube looks better)

Button rifling and a target crown. Ported of course!

No aluminum like the lightning. Develop rimless cartridges equal to the historical rounds for better feeding.

Yes Stainless, ala Trapper/Alaskan/GuideGun. I'm talking about something that will stand up to harsh weather and take a beating.

No plastic High Viz sights. No brass/aluminum front sight that can be broken off. Steel front and rear sights with hoods in dove tail grooves. No scope mount option. I want a pistol grip and for it to have an integrated flip up rear sight for longer ranges.

The trigger guard needs to be larger for using heavy gloves.

Trust me... it'd be heavy enough, so I want the butt stock to be composite, over-molded with wood. HOLLOW, so a cleaning kit, at least a bore snake, rubbers or balloons to keep debris out of the muzzle, can be stored there.

Develop a bottle necked rimless 445 SuperMag and .444Marlin for it. (Hmm... might have to be some sort of rotating bolt to do that)

And one that will cycle .410 shot shells and slugs.

The new Ruger Mini14/30 targets are touted to shoot minute of angle. I want one that will shoot sub minute of angle!
