I went to Wash.D.C. last April during the Cherry Blossum Festival, while there my son and I talked to some of the Uniformed division Secret Service officers and they are carrying Sig 229sin .357sig. There were two Uniformed Division ERT team members, in their dark response kit, armed w/ pistols only, that were on a roving foot patrol outside the north side (the part that is where the press area and Lafayette park, for those of you that haven't been to D.C.) were very friendly and open to good public relations. They were carrying the H&K p-2000 in .357sig. They told us the service was going to adopt the H&K 416, as the Capitol police just had. It seems the Capitol police were not entirely satisfied w/ the G-36...The two ERT members also said that the WhiteHouse detail no longer used the MP-5, having switched over to the F.N. P-90 for response within and immediately around the White House, Blair house and Old Executive Office Bldg.
This the 2nd time in 5 yrs that I've been to D.C. on vacation and each time the L.E.O.s of all the agencies in D.C. have been great, friendly, patient & helpful to us aggravating tourists, real professionals with a hard job!
