I'm new to the .223 game and I do understand basics of twist rates etc, just picked up a .223 Cva 1:12 20" hunter I'm using jbm for length, Berger twist calculator, and h322 and accurate 2015 for data... the bullet based on data and varmint/predator (yote, coon, pdog 20-500 yds) I'm thinking 50spsx, am I on the right track? Max bc while stabilizing in same length/twist would be great! Berger calculator as I've found for 243 is not the Bible but a starting point thus far.

Last i checked 40-50gr bullet weight for a 1:12 twist. That mostly covers AR-15's. Not sure about the 20" but sure someone more knowledgeable on the subject will be along to add.

Oh and lighter bullet is fine for those critters.

Great chart! Just my experience, my 1-12"twist bbl. single shot could keep 5, 50 gr. HPBT in 2" @ 100 (now that's not great compared to some, but pretty good for me!). But the same rifle with a 60 gr. HPBT, would do no better than 4" at the same distance...

Nice chart, Acera.

I notice that 60 grain bullet weight is missing.

The majority of my .223 Remington is loaded with 60 grain Hornady bullets and they are shot out of a 181-series Mini-14 with a 1:12 barrel and they make a round (as opposed to oblong) hole in the target at 200 yards.
