Pros and cons? I have a customized Rem 700 short action 350 Rem mag. I no longer fish in AL. just hunt deer. I would get more use from 308 are a 300 Short Mag. Whats involed beside barrel?

Not sure about the bolt face on that 350, but you would have to swap the barrel at minimum. You may also need another bolt face, which wouldnt be that bad. Magazine setup may need tweaked. Most gunsmiths do caliber swaps all the time. DIY or having a smith do it?

I do not think it would be terrible at all either way, especially if you have all your parts and tools in order. I am sure someone will be along directly with more info.

Any other belted short mag caliber would be a gunsmith barrel swap and setting the headspace.

A change to a .308 Win size case would require a new barrel, bolt, and magazine box to feed the smaller round.
