Rimfire Revolver Question

I have a S&W 647 8 3/8" 17 HMR & S&W M48 22 MRF Target and have one annoying problem with both models. They require constant cleaning of cylinder face and forcing cone due to close cylinder gap. I really don't have a problem with the cleaning on the range, but have wondered what people do if they are in the woods or country and want to shoot? Is this also a problem with 22LR models?

This morning I installed the as yet unfired 22LR cylinder in my M48 and it is also set to same gap as the magnum cylinder and thus I "assume" it will have the same problem of binding as it is fired and cylinder face gets dirty like my M647 or 22 MRF cylinder does. Is this correct?

Had a Ruger GP100 that was the same way, but I have not had that problem with my S&W 642-2, 610-3 revolvers. And of course not with my DW 357 as it has easy adjustable screw in barrel, since it is set as per factory gap gage at .006 inch as are my 642 & 610 revolvers.

I have not had this problem with .22lr. The only thing I can think of to helpwould to be;
Change ammo
Adjust BC gap.

I guess I will find out when I shoot the 22LR cylinder as it has same gap. Problem with changing gap on S&W or most revolvers is it requires a gun smith or return to factory and is rather expensive either way. I was just hoping this was just a peculiarity of the HMR & MRF rounds.

Dirt in the B-C gap? Bring a bronze brush

If it were me, I'd be happy the gap was tight and I was getting maximum velocity. Rimfires are pretty dirty shooters, but a little extra cleaning wouldn't hurt my feelings any.

I don't have a 17hmr, but both of my .22wmr's get dirty quick. My .22lr's not so bad.
