There are breech loaded single shots that use a rimless cartridge yes? How does this work? What is the design that holds round in place? Does anyone know of a single in 7.62x39?
A rimless bottleneck round like the 7.62x39 or any other headspaces on the case shoulder, that's what keeps the round in place in the front of the chamber. The head of the case is contained by the standing breach, breachblock, or bolt.
Do a search for "Handi Rifle" or NEF.You'll be amazed at what you will find. Handi rifles are chambered in a large number of calibers including pistol calibers.
I have owned one in .223 that was a lot of fun and extremely accurate.
