Shoot it out of one of your Mosins.

What's the headstamp on it? Something super old maybe?

....... le sigh

its as I feared ....

Now I will HAVE to buy a mosin...

I guess there's nothing left to do but inform the wife of the unfortunate situation we are in.

Thanks for the ID.

On a more serious note, I hope the rest of my box doesn't have a whole bunch of those. I really need to go through the rest of it. Mostly 50's,, some 70's, and now some mosin food.

Reminds me of the story of Mr Browning writing an irate letter to the ammo company when he found one round of .30 Army (Krag) in a case of .30 Gov't ('06). "Wouldn't that be a fine thing in a machine gun on a hot corner?"

You're shipment is corrupted. Best to keep the 7.62x54R and send the remainder of the 8mm Mauser to me for disposal :)

Its Yugoslavia & the bottom looks like this....

therefore (and i was pretty sure of this before hand), NNY= the cyrillic for PPU = Prvi Partizan, correct?

I;ve always heard that Prvi was one of the "Good" sources of 7.62x54r

Yes, PPU (Prvi Partizan) is indeed a good source of just about anything they manufacture. I've great luck with many of their milsurp and commercial fodder.

As for Mosins, they can be found at numerous places on-line for $79 (1891/30, arsenal reconditioned). Unless you're severally strapped for cash, a run-of-the-mill mosin nagant should be within your price range. Many folks, such as myself, end up with more than one after recognizing the value of their first.
