Here is an excerpt from what he said.

"The ban covers military style weapons, but makes exemptions for roughly 650 types of firearms deemed suitable for sporting purposes.

I support the Second Amendment right to bear arms. I also feel that gun violence is a serious problem in our Nation and that the Assault Weapons Ban discourages the abuse of certain military style weapons. I voted for the Assault Weapon Ban in 1994 and will support further efforts to ban these types of weapons. While many Americans disagree in their interpretation of the Second Amendment, I believe we can sucessfully protect our constitutional rights while passing laws that discourage gun violence."

Woo hoo!

Yeah, cause it is the laws that stop criminals from committing crimes.

At least we now know what pile to stack him on.

I plan on sending this bozo a letter in the near future. I moved to Ohio from Tennessee and both of my former Senators voted against the AWB. I just want to let this bone-head know that if I’m still here when he’s up for election, I’ll be voting against him.

He just fired a "Staff Assistant" for having a blog about her sex life in DC. Evidently she was getting paid for sex by some of DC's most outstanding citizens. Do a search for Jessica Cutler to get the news. I've been here since The Firing Line went away and I can't believe this is my first post.

What is really annoying

about him is his habit of lying on the Senate floor. The last time the AWB was up for debate he claimed that no one in Ohio contacted him saying that they wanted the ban lifted and he was just doing what the ohio citizens wanted. Well I poersonal sent serveral letters and called his office twice.
I can't stand a lair, which he is.

DeWhine, Ohio RINO

I too am an Ohioan, and a Republican, but right now I would vote for just about anyone over Mike DeWine. I write this guy all the time, and I get the same canned response each time. I'm hopeing we can help him find work in the private sector when his term is up.

Hate to say it, but get used to Republicans like DeWine. These guys will do whatever it takes to get elected, and this includes coddling to the emotions of middle aged soccer moms. Everytime I think of RINOs like DeWine, the tune "We"re Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister just echoes in the back of my mind. I recommend for each of you to, right before you are about to call or write hammerheads like DeWine or even before you go vote, crank up some of that Twisted Sister. Trust me, you're not gonna take it anymore.

Oh, Hi, Mr GunRights, and welcome aboard!

You do know, of course, that you'll have to buy the ammo when we all go out shooting. Yeah, nobody's made me do it yet, either, but there's a principle involved. We need to let the latest guy who shows up know who's senior and who's junior!

Hate to sound like a geezer, here, but you need to eschew that loathesome electronically amplified twanging sissy string music (Twisted Sister? ugh!), and embrace and listen to the real American stuff, such as, oh, for example, "Hail to the Spirit of Liberty" and "Solid Men to the Front", both of them by J.P. Sousa. Or maybe "Hail Columbia" by Philip Phile.

Owhell. Whatever. You're with us on the gun question. Maybe I can educate you about music, later.

I received the exact same letter from him. Surprisingly, most letters from other reps or senators give alot of double-speak without clearly saying anything. Dewine comes right out and says he voted for the ban in the past and he will vote for the ban in the future.

:barf: :barf:

This is exactly the kind of oxygen thief you OHIOANS need to fire. This guy sits there posing as a Republican taking up space and sucking up money intended for those who would represent us.

A question for CA folks
So when are you guys going to fir your two demos?

heh. I only wish. At least they don't pretend to be something they're not.:p

Guv Booby Daft....Grandson of President "Crooked" Taft...and about as honest & straight-forward

This looks like a form letter that is coming from all the supporters of the AWB.

This line seems to be in all that I have seen -

"The ban covers military style weapons, but makes exemptions for roughly 650 types of firearms deemed suitable for sporting purposes."

Amendment, I believe we can sucessfully protect our constitutional rights while passing laws that discourage gun violence."
If he can explain to me exactly how this is done, I will support his campaign. :barf:

Ignorance in The Flesh

Where oh where did these morons come up with this "sporting purposes" crap? I hear that from lawmakers, blissninnies, soccer mommies, anti firearm writers, et.al. Do these boneheads actually think that the intent of the Second Amendment was to allow us to hunt?
And as for Mr.Dewine, I would love to see his list of the 650 single shot pop-guns that he and his cronies feel are appropriate for the unwashed masses to own.

DeWine is at the top of my list for Republicans who need to be voted out of office when they run for reelection. I may not be able to vote in Ohio; but you can bet I'll be following the primaries closely, donating to his opponents and spreading the word here.

I think the point is that they don't think about it. But once you point it out to them they are speechless.
The same goes for the "militia" argument. "The Bill of Rights" is about an individual's rights, except fo that pesky 2nd Amendment. That is for the right of the State to form a militia.
Once you point out the error of their logic, they revert to the "I just don't think people need an assault rifle" crap.
It is a good thing the antis haven't thought about the havoc a man with a high power rifle and scope could cause......... yet.

When Md was trying to cram another AWB down our throats, I would email these types of threads to the voting State Senators.

After 50 to 60 people weigh in on this in just one forum, they get to see how people REALLY feel about their politics. And when they get emailed 10 to 12 threads.......

Yes, some actually read them. I had two very personal responses with quotes from some of the threads.
