Risk of .308 fitting in .25-06?

I have 243 Rem, 25-06, 270 win and 30-06. I decided to keep 308 Win away for now. I wondered about the 308 catching on the extractor so it would allow the firing pin to strike the primer.

Also, as mentioned, only one type of catridge on the bench next to the rifle that was designed for it. . Be safe guys!!

If someone is too stupid, busy,or other wise occupied when they are loading ammo into any weapon as to put the wrong ammo in it,then they need to find something else to do as a hobby.
In the 44+ years that I've been shooting firearms,I've never once tried to load a cartridge into a firearm that wasn't made/intended to be put into the said firearm I was shooting. I load and shoot many different chamberings from the same case families 260/7mm-08/308 and 25/06-6.5/06-30/06. If you can't keep your ammo separated from other types, then you are just plainly dumb. :banghead:

Txhillbilly: I may be dumb but you are an *******. At least I can acknowledge my mistakes for the benefit of others. I have shot for 56 years and never found it necessary to berate another for admitting an error.

An old gunsmith friend of mine told me of twice over the years he has had Remington 700s in .25-06 brought to him that had fired .308s.

Bolts were hard to open as the brass had of course become a bit too friendly with the chamber. No damage to either rifle. One said he almost hit the 'yote he was aiming at.

If you think about it you can see that it really doesn't take that much force to swage a bullet down.

A friend wanted to shoot my HK USP40 to get a feel for the round and loaded my 40's magazine with some of his 9mm rounds by mistake. He pulled the trigger once before I realized what he had done. Fortunately the HK is built like a tank and nothing happened to my friend or my gun. From then on out if someone wants to shoot one of my weapons I load it for them. Better safe than sorry. I've yet to have an issue with my .308 and 25-06, or any other rifle for that matter. :what:
